Exam Preparation Week 3

Updated: Sep 10, 2021

As we move closer towards the exam, hopefully students have almost finished their bound reference. This week, we will take a look at a fundamental part of our bound reference; the table of contents. Afterwards, we will look at getting started on practice questions given we are probably eight weeks or so out from the examination.

Disclaimer

These are recommendations and not everyone learns in the same way, so take all advice with a grain of salt.

Table of Contents

As I mentioned last week, I broke my bound reference into specific subtopics and included theory, a basic example and a more specific exam like example for each subtopic in the course. I think it is critical to create a table of contents with a page reference number for each specific subtopic. The benefit of this is twofold:

  1. Allows for more efficient referencing during the exam (saves time!)

  2. Gives you more confidence going into the exam which will hopefully translate into better performance.

Moving on to practice questions.

I think now is a great time to start looking towards practice and revision questions.

I would start this process by reviewing the sacs and topic tests I have completed throughout the year and perhaps retrying certain questions that were more challenging (ask for help if needed!).

After this, I would look to start answering externally made practice papers like ‘NEAP’ or ‘TSSM’ as these closely reflect exam questions. If you cannot find these resources, I would look at textbook review questions as well as external resources like ‘Checkpoints’ or ‘Atar Notes’.

Good luck in your remaining SACS and stay safe in these weird times!
